Nyerere

Nyerere lies in southeastern Tanzania along the Rufiji River basin, bordered by Mikumi National Park to the northwest and the Udzungwa Mountains to the west. The easiest way in is a 45-minute to one-hour charter flight from Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar to Mtemere airstrip, where your guide meets you directly. Driving is also possible — roughly 280km and about 5 hours from Dar es Salaam via Mikumi.

Being so close to Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar makes Nyerere unusually easy to combine with a beach extension or a short southern-circuit add-on to a longer Tanzania trip.
