Mbuzi mawe tented camp

A quiet camp inside the migration's path

The camp sits directly on one of the Serengeti's principal migration corridors, so for much of the year the plains around it are moving with wildebeest, zebra and gazelle — and the predators that follow them. Days here are built around game drives, guided walks and slow evenings; nights end with a fire, a cold drink, and the sound of the bush right outside your tent.

Guarded by granite, open to the plains

Mbuzi Mawe takes its name from the Swahili for “rock goat” — the klipspringer antelope that lives on the granite boulders around camp. It sits roughly 40km north of Seronera, the Serengeti's central hub, off the main road toward the northern park — close enough for an easy transfer, far enough to feel genuinely away from the main tourist flow.

Because it straddles a major wildebeest and zebra corridor, the camp is especially well placed during the migration's two big pushes: north through the western corridor around March–April, and south again around November–January. Outside those windows, resident lion, elephant, giraffe and buffalo keep the plains busy year-round.
